One of our most frequently asked questions is “How do I check my copy count?”

Understanding how to check your meter reading is important. Keeping a check on your copy count helps you save money in three ways:

      • Plan your Priorities. Measuring the wear and tear on your machines helps you plan and budget for preventative maintenance on your existing machine.
      • Reassure your Accounting Department. Benchmarking where you stand with your usage helps you estimate your costs in accordance with your click-charge agreement. This way there are no surprises on your service agreement invoice.
      • Eliminate Drama. Watching this number keeps you appraised of the copier’s longevity, so you can know when it’s time for a replacement or upgrade… without emergency outages.

When it comes to the “how-to’s” of refurbished copiers, Copy Tech makes it simple for you in three easy steps. As an example, we’ll use instructions for the Ricoh MP C4502 & C4503. The same instructions can also apply to the Ricoh MP 4054 and Ricoh MP 5054 (black and white machines).

Here are the instructions for checking your meter reading, with a video illustration to help!

Step One: Locate and push your copier’s Use Tools button. This button is typically located on the right side of your Ricoh machine.

Step Two: On your LED display screen, tap the “Counter” option. This option is typically located at the lower right side of your LED screen.

At this point, a series of numbers will appear on your LED screen. For your copy count, look for the words “Color Total” and “B & W Total”. These are your copier meter readings, which for a copier are much like an odometer reading of your vehicle.

Step Three: If you’d like to print the meter reading for easier tracking and access, simply tap “Print Report” on your LED screen, then push “Start”. Tap “Exit” twice to revert to the copier’s main welcome screen.

Many copiers work in a similar fashion. Should you need any assistance checking your counts, Copy Tech can help!
